School Dinners

We aim to encourage healthy eating by offering a variety of nutritious foods.  All school meals are prepared on site and include carbohydrates, proteins and vegetables, the crucial elements of a nutritionally balanced diet – and children are taught the importance of each to a balanced diet, so they can make the right choices.

For Key Stage 2, the standard price of a primary school meal is £2.80

The school’s dining hall operates a cashless system, so money cannot be paid over the counter – payments are operated by adding credit through Arbor (minimum payment £5).

Universal Infant Free School Meal (UIFSM)

Children in Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a UIFSM. Jugs of water are provided but pupils may bring a drink of juice if they wish.

Free School Meals (FSM)

Expanded FSM

From the start of the 2026 to 2027 academic year, the government is expanding FSM eligibility to all children from households in receipt of Universal Credit regardless of household earnings. Free school meals are available to pupils in receipt of, or whose parents are in receipt of, one or more of the following benefits:

  • Universal Credit
  • support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

A pupil is only eligible to receive a free school meal where both:

  • a claim for this support has been made
  • their eligibility has been verified by the school where they are enrolled or by the local authority

Households may also be entitled to a meal if they:

  • are in receipt of income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • receive the guarantee element of Pension Credit
  • meet criteria set out in separate guidance for families with no recourse to public funds

Targeted FSM

Children from households in receipt of Universal Credit with annual household earnings of £7,400 or less (the existing threshold for FSM prior to the expansion), will be eligible for targeted FSM. In addition to receiving free meals, pupils eligible for targeted FSM will attract pupil premium and other disadvantage funding for their schools.

Parents of children in any year group can apply for free school meals if they meet the eligibility criteria. This includes those children receiving a universal infant free school meal.  To apply click here and if you have any questions, please speak to the school office team.
